The afternoon tea saw close to 40 people in attendance – some staying and chatting while others popped in to purchase a raffle ticket or a to-go box.

Organiser Michelle Elijah said it proved to be a wonderful day.

“We’ve beaten last year’s target of over $3000,” she said.

“We’ve still got some more stuff to sell.

“Thank you to the community for all of your donations.

“Thank you to Christine Clarke for making the yo-yos.

“Thank you to Peter James for pre-selling the raffle tickets.”

At least 45 food boxes were sold prior to the event, with all funds raised throughout the afternoon and through the sale of the boxes going towards Cancer Council to fund research into cancer.

Ms Elijah extended her gratitude to everyone who supported the event.

“Thank you to everyone who helped behind the scenes – those who washed the dishes and packed the boxes the night before,” she said.

“In this climate, it is quite tough – to exceed last year’s target was pretty amazing.

“We’re very grateful, and it’s a worthy cause.

“It was a wonderful afternoon, and everyone had a lovely time.”

At the time of publication, the final tally for the fundraising had not been counted.

The final fundraising tally will be released on social media, with a poster in the window of Revamp Hair, Beauty and Gifts to be put up.
