Bloods on top heading into bye
TERANG MORTLAKE came back from their trip to Hamilton on Saturday with a 25 point win in the round six Hampden League senior football match.

The Bloods led all day to record a 12.8.80 to 7.13.55 win at Melville Oval.
“The boys had a dead set crack, it was a good game actually” Terang Mortlake coach Lewy Taylor said.
“It was a pretty hard contest so it was good to win by the four goals in the end, very pleasing going into a bye, the boys have done really well.”
The Bloods got out of the blocks early, kicking seven goals to three in the first quarter.
“We started the game well, Hamilton actually kicked the first, but after that we sort of got going a bit and then it was a pretty good contest.”
Riley Hutchins was best for Terang Mortlake in the win.
“Riley was good, it was hard to pick the best, but I thought he was lively all day and his running and carry really got us going.
“But across the board it was reasonably hard to pick this week, which is pleasing, but yeah, he was the standout.”
Defender Oscar Curran also played a key role in the win.
“Oscar was brilliant, he had a role on (Hamilton key forward) Hamish Cook and did a great job and ended up keeping Cook goalless.
“It was a good test for Oscar with Cook playing interleague next week and he ended up on top.”
Ryan Tanner led the goalkickers with four, and was also named in the Bloods best.
“Ryan was really good, he marked the ball well and provided a contest down there with the Kain Train (Will Kain), so it was pleasing to see him do well.
He's been playing some good footy the last four weeks that he's been in, he probably didn't get as much opportunity last week, but he came out and played really well Saturday.”
Junior player Zavier Fowler made his senior debut for the Bloods in this game.
“Zav has been playing some good footy in the 18s and this week presented a bit of an opportunity for some guys, so it was good to give him his first game and he did really well. “He had his family there and he did a few really nice things, so that was pleasing.”
The unbeaten Bloods have the week off for the league bye, with their next match against reigning premier North Warrnambool on May 30.
“The boys have put in a power of work, it all sort of starts back in November.
But the boys come ready to play each week and buying into the things we're doing, we're obviously going to freshen up this week and then looking forward to taking on North in a couple of weeks, they haven't lost either, so it should be a good game.”

“It was good to get back on the winners board before the break after a tough few weeks before that.”
The Bloods led all day, with Lyla Grundy shooting a match high 48 goals.
“Lyla was just so impressive from the very start of the game.
“48 goals from a 16 year old, that's pretty incredible, she had a real day out.”
Apart from Grundy, Jacqui Arndell and Ava Grundy were in the best for Terang Mortlake.
“Jacqui worked really well with Lyla and Ava Grundy did as well.
“So our attacking end was great on the weekend and our defensive pressure all over the court was really good as well.”
After a training session on Tuesday night, the Bloods were making the most of the weekend off.
“We did a bit of fitness on Tuesday night and then we’ll have a bit of a break away from the courts, which will be just nice for everyone.
