Demons break the drought
TIMBOON scored its first senior football win in the WDFNL competition in six weeks with a 50-point win over South Rovers.

The Demons led all day in the 16.12.108 to 9.4.58 win at the Timboon Recreation Reserve.
“It was reward for effort,” Timboon coach Andrew Hargreaves said.
“We’ve played the competition’s best teams over the past month with players out, and the scores haven’t represented our output.”
Forward Joshua Worboys bagged seven goals for the Demons in the win.
“Josh pretty much marked everything kicked to him,” Hargreaves said.
“He was an imposing presence in our forward 50.”
Brothers Will and Johno Benallack were in the best for the Demons alongside Worboys.
“Will is explosive whether in the midfield or at half forward.
“Johno has come in with not much recent footy and is so clean with his marking or on the ground, he’s a one touch player.”
Hargreaves was also full of praise for first year midfielder Tommy Illingworth.
“Tommy has really stepped up, to have an 18 year-old as a starting mid is really impressive.
“Tommy’s tackles really stick, he’s been great for us.”
The win keeps the Demons in touch with the top five, with a game against eighth placed Dennington at Timboon this week.
“It’s a game we can’t afford to lose,” Hargreaves said.
“We feel we are closer to the top teams than results would suggest so far.”
Timboon had a strong 14.5.89 to 5.2.32 win in the reserves football.
Ben Matthews, Mitch Gristede and Eddie Gaut were the best for the Demons, with Eben White kicking four goals.
South Rovers had a 13.9.87 to 1.2.8 win in the under 18s.
Best for the Demons were Hugh Smith, Mitchell Plozza and Brock Savage, with Cooper Whiting kicking the lone goal.
South Rovers were also too strong in the under 15 football, winning 11.11.77 to 0.3.3.
William Plozza, Byron Woods and Alby Jones were named as best for the Demons.
In the under 13s, Timboon had a 3.6.24 to 2.1.13 win.
Dane Nicholls, Kaspar Hendrix and Jed Watson best for the junior Demons.
A great day on the netball court saw Timboon win all six games.
In the A grade game, the Demons led all day to score an important 52-44 victory.
“We made a great start before the game evened out a bit,” Timboon coach Danica Clough said.
“Really happy that we then finished the game strongly in the last quarter.”
Goal shooter Laura Rosolin scored 35 goals in a best on court performance.
“Laura was hard to stop, she moved really well and keeps putting up huge numbers for us,” Clough said.
The Demons coach also had goal attack Isabelle Moorhead and mid court player Simone McLaren in her best players.
“It was great to have Isabelle back in the team on Saturday, her calm delivery and presence up forward was important.
“Simone gave us really strong drive through the centre and made good decisions.”
The win sees Timboon in fifth place on the ladder with a huge game this week against fourth placed Dennington.
“A top five finish is in reach, we need to keep putting our best foot forward and be in control of our destiny.”
Timboon had a 43-31 win in the A reserve netball.
Best for Timboon were Kira Gordon, Lexci Nicholas and Sophie Walsh, with Macey Gale scoring a match high 39 goals.
The B grade game saw Timboon record a 40-25 win.
