Fault leads to outage
RESIDENTS of the Larralee and Leslie Manor areas experienced a power outage last Thursday following damage to a power pole.
A Powercor spokesperson said the outage, which was caused by damage to a cross arm, affected 370 customers.
“We believe the underlying cause may be a build-up of ash on power poles from the nearby bushfires, combined with light drizzly rain,” the spokesperson said.
“This can create a film across insulators, allowing electricity to track across them and result in faults.
“A crew was dispatched to complete the repaired and restored power to customers.
“In the event of power outages, we keep customers updated on their estimated restoration time via SMS, our website and our contact centre.”
