Finn wins memorial race
CAMPERDOWN cyclist Finn Baxter has won the Geoff Kane Memorial award.
Race six of the summer series for the Camperdown Cycling Club saw competitors enjoy a sunny evening for racing last Thursday.
The memorial award honours the contribution of former member Geoff Kane, who joined the club in 1969 and served as president and handicapper for more than 50 years.
He was also a life member.
While it has been many years since the passing of Geoff, the Camperdown Cycling Club proudly runs a race in his honour each year.
Last week’s event was watched by Geoff’s son Chris, who awarded winner Finn Baxter the memorial trophy.
Baxter crossed the line in a tight finish, winning with the time of 10.10.
Second on the night was Zane in 10.16 while third (and fastest time) was Josh in 9.29.
Congratulations also to competitors Nathaniel (11.22), Oliver (9.33), Quinn (10.48), Lawson (12.23), Ava (11.13), Thea (11.13), Henry (12.59) and Finny (25.15).
The club is looking forward to welcoming special guest Grace Brown at this week’s race.
