Tim Keane played his 400th game on Saturday while Martin Wynd enjoyed his 200th.

Both multiple centurions performed well for the Lions in their milestone games.

Keane and his team-mates travelled to Warrnambool’s Walter Oval on Saturday.

The Lions lost the toss and were sent to bat on a wicket that generally played low and the batsmen needed to play forward.

The Lions were on the backfoot early, losing both Dom Moloney (2) and Liam Geary (0 caught at mid-off) playing totally different shots with the score at 2-16.

Isaac Toombs and Tyson Hay steadied the ship with a 100-run partnership before Hay fell for 43 off 67 balls with five boundaries.

Toombs was dismissed for 72 off 104 balls with 12 boundaries when the score was 126.

Bailey Kavenagh (10) and Gus Bourke (4) fell shortly after, with the score at 6-136.

Isaac Kenna and Tim Keane batted sensibly and brought up a 50-run partnership without finding the boundary.

Keane was dismissed for 31 (nearly achieving one run for every year he has played senior cricket) off 64 balls when the score was 7-198.

Isaac was run out for 37 off 94 balls, co-captain Stephen O’Connor 28 off 31, Luke Kenna 10 off 21 and Sam Munro 4no achieved a reasonable total of 248 - almost batting their 80 overs.

This Saturday they have 80 overs in which to either dismiss Warrnambool or restrict them to less than the total for victory.

The Lions’ seconds played North Warrnambool at Bushfield and held the home side to 8-125 from their 45 overs.

In his 200th game, Martin Wynd was the most economical bowler as well as having the best figures of 3-11 from nine overs.

Harry Schrama 2-29 and Andrew Battistello 2-31 were the other multiple wicket takers.

Hugh Giblin 1-22 along with Jack McConnell 0-18 of seven and Tyler Smith 0-10 off three were the other bowlers to restrict the opposition batsmen.

The Lions passed the total in the 22nd over for the loss of Dave Conheady 36 from only 42 balls (with four boundaries) after an opening partnership of 79.

Max Heffernan returned to form with 57no from 70 balls (including seven boundaries) and Harry Schrama 11no from 17.

After losing their first game, they have recovered well to win the next two.

This Saturday they will host Port Fairy on the Terang turf ground.

The thirds remain unbeaten after keeping Allansford Panmure to 8-88 from 40 overs.

Jack Kenna was back and continued his form with the ball to take 3-14 from seven overs.

Dean Abbott had the remarkable figures of 2-8 from eight overs.

Eamonn O’Connor took 2-18 from his eight overs while Tom Conheady in his first game of the season was also economical with 0-11 from seven overs, opening the bowling.

Juniors Lucia Clarke and Sam Lillico also produced miserly overs.

Like the seconds they passed the total in the 22 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Dean Abbott led the way with the bat, making 43 from 60 balls with five boundaries.

Isaac Byron (13) and fellow junior Hugh Kenna (21no) were the other players to reach double figures.

This weekend they also play Port Fairy at Port Fairy.

The under 17s, resuming their match against Spring Creek on the Terang hard wicket, had already lost on the first innings.

Spring Creek declared at 2-152 and was looking at getting an outright win but was thwarted by a much better display of batting.

They started their second innings with an opening partnership eclipsing last week’s team total of 30 with an opening stand of 66.

Charlie Roberts made 10 from 46. Max Heffernan, who retired hurt last week, brought his senior form to the match and retired on 61 from only 56 balls.

Isaac Byron made 28 from 46 deliveries and Sam Lillico 11 from 18.

At stumps the Lions had made 3-130 from 29 overs.

Next Tuesday the team will travel to Port Fairy to start a two-day game.

Hopefully encouraged by the batting performance in the second innings they may push for their first win of the season.

The under 15s were short on numbers in the run chase of the formidable total of 4-232.

Openers Paddy Scanlon (24 from 72 balls) and Hugh Kenna (22 from 41) did the bulk of the scoring.

When the Lions ran out of batters they were 6-85 from 27.2 overs.

This Friday sees the start of a two-day game against Warrnambool at the Allen Oval.

The under 13s, in their two-day game against Mortlake Cobden, weren’t able to chase down the total of 129 and were dismissed for 58.

Liam Kenna (15) and Noah Conheady (11) were the main contributors.

Ned Abbott took 3-5, Sonny Davis 2-14 and Noah Conheady 1-11 took the wickets.

This Saturday they start a two-day game against Warrnambool on the Terang hard wicket.
