Pennant win for Terang

TERANG has taken out the Western District Division One pennant grand final.


The ladies’ team, comprising Michelle Beasley, Sharee Scanlon, Cate Glennon, Marion Venn, Margie Driscoll and Jo Arundell, defeated Timboon in the grand final 4-1.

Last Thursday was round three of the women’s silverspoon competition.

The winner was Michelle Bourke with 38 points followed by Cate Glennon on 35.

Balls down the line went to Cybil Ubergang and Margie Driscoll.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Cate Glennon and ninth from off the green, Judy Carmody.

Michelle will now go on to compete in the play-offs of the silverspoon winners later in the year – with the winner from that then competing in Melbourne for the final.

The winner of the all-day stableford 18 hole event was Stephen Grinter on 38, with Caleb Perry the runner-up on 37.

Balls down the line went to Nigel Bruckner 34, Denise Kenna 32 and Bernie Kenna 31.

Nearest the pin on the 8th was Nigel Bruckner.

The winner of the nine hole event was Gerard Meade on 20 points.

Next week will be the all-day stableford 18 and nine hole events and women’s 9.30am-10.30am event.

A strong field of 32 players contested a stableford round at the Terang Golf Club last Saturday.

The winner of A grade was Ian Thorby (5) 37 from runner-up Ash Quick (3) 35.

B grade was won by Michelle Bourke (46) 41 from Peter McSween (18) 39.

Balls down the line went to Brad Lucas (21) 36, Chris Salisbury (25) 36, Peter Hrabar (21) 36 and Liam Venn (6) 35.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Cate Glennon, 6th Gary Huebner, 8th and 11th Phil Beasley.

This Saturday and Sunday will be stableford.
