Runners tackle marathon festival

THREE Cobden runners were among the thousands who took part in last weekend’s 2025 Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival.

Belinda Savage, Lauren Meade and Colleen Bayes each competed in the 10-kilometre race on Sunday morning.

The trio put in a huge effort among a big crowd of runners.

Colleen finished in a time of 1:03.34 while Lauren (1:05.36) and Belinda (1:05.37) were close behind.

The marathon festival, which kicked off from the start line on Batman Avenue early on Sunday morning, once again attracted runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

The festival offered participants the chance to challenge themselves at either the full marathon distance, half marathon, 10 kilometres, five kilometres or a 2.5 kilometre walk – with all competitors crossing the finish line on the MCG.
