Strong support for Cancer Sit and Sew

SEWISTS from across the area came together for a special day of sewing, connection and charity over the weekend, with the Camperdown Clocktowers hosting their annual Sit and Sew for Cancer day.

The event was held last Sunday, with 30 people coming together at the Camperdown Golf Club for a day of craft for a worthy cause.

Camperdown Clocktower Quilters secretary and treasurer Carol Wilson said the group was very happy with the turnout, which played a part in the group raising $900 to go towards cancer research.

“I reckon it was the best crowd we’ve had,” she said.

“Everyone had an enjoyable day, and that’s all we can ask.

“We had lucky door prizes, which they got as they came in.

“They also had a free raffle ticket, and they could buy more.

“We had a raffle table full of gift which people donated.”

Ms Wilson said attendees enjoyed morning tea before pulling out their projects, enjoying the opportunity to craft and share their work with like-minded people.

“We had lunch at around 12.30pm,” she said.

“We drew the raffle and started winding down at 2.30pm so those who needed to leave could leave.

“We were all cleaned up and gone by 4pm, which was amazing.

“It was a great day. Everyone enjoyed it.”
