COBDEN: Through the Lens is an upcoming photography exhibition designed to showcase Cobden’s photography talents, with the deadline to enter extended to this Friday.

The event, hosted by Progressing Cobden, will come to the Cobden Civic Hall from Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26.
Progressing Cobden president Misty Angus said the event would highlight all the best parts of Cobden.
“Cobden: Through the Lens is designed to highlight the unusual spaces in Cobden and for us to be able to see what others see when they wander through Cobden,” she said.
“We’ve had some phenomenal entries so far – we’ve extended the cut-off time for entries to Friday, October 17.
“We have five different categories.
“There is Cobden life – the people, the community, the everyday moments of Cobden.
“There’s nature and landscapes, heritage and history, a youth dedicated section and a close-up and macros section – so the small details, textures and tiny world of birds and bugs.”
Progressing Cobden secretary Kathryn Stubbings said the idea to host a photography event came from someone in the community.
“One of the local residents who is a passionate phone photographer raised the conversation and Misty took on the idea and it morphed into this, which is fantastic,” she said.
“We have Rodney Harris from Warrnambool coming to judge and give feedback.”
After judging, the exhibition will open for two days over the weekend, giving everyone a chance to come and see the talent Cobden has to share.
“We have an opening night on October 24 at 6pm with light appetizers and the official judging will happen then,” Mrs Angus said.
“We have exhibition hours on October 24 and 25 from 11am-4pm each day for a gold coin entry so that everyone can come and have a look and see how others see Cobden.
“It’s been sponsored by Community Bank Cobden, which we are extremely grateful for and they will be providing the community choice prize.
“We encourage everyone to come along, have a look and get their last-minute entries in and showcase the amazing creative talent that Cobden has.”
