Under 16 Knights defeat Bookaar

NO play for Cobden’s senior men’s cricketers on Saturday as the Colac-South West joint competition and the South West Cricket Association called off all matches due to the extreme heat.


This Saturday the Knights, currently in ninth place on the ladder, host sixth placed Alvie at the Cobden Community Bank Recreation Reserve.

In division two this week, Cobden meets Pomborneit at the Timboon High School, while the division three Knights head out to South Purrumbete to play Pomborneit Maroon.

On Sunday in the under 16s, Cobden had a strong win over Bookaar at Frederick St.

The home team batted first and made 4/165 from its 35 overs.

Ben Vogels led the Cobden bowling with 2/16 from six overs, with Monty Darcy and Eamon Sloane taking a wicket each.

In reply Cobden made 5/231.

Openers Max Slater and Monty Darcy did well making 43 and 50 retired respectively.

Ben Vogels brought up his retirement with a six, finishing on 55, also hitting seven fours.

Will Darcy made 22, with Clem Walsh unbeaten on 36.

This Sunday the under 16 Knights host Pomborneit at Cobden.

The under 13 competition had the long weekend off, this Monday the under 13 Knights play Bookaar at Frederick St.
